It’s hard NOT to hear about all the new things filling up our growing city. It feels as though there’s something new popping up on almost every corner! Check out the list below for new businesses calling North Alabama their home this month!

L’Etoile Patisserie Bakery

Tucked into the former Lincoln Mill commissary, this new French-style bakery and cafe will hold its grand opening on October 7th, 2021. L’Etoile Patisserie is between Preservation Company and Holtz Leather Co. at 1214 Meridian Street Huntsville, AL 35801. From viennoiserie, baguettes, and patisserie to European espresso-based coffee and tea, the bakery has it all! Owners Kevin and Kristen Zurmuehlen got their inspiration for the shop while traveling through Europe, specifically their time in France, while in the Army. L’Etoile Patisserie seats about 26 people and has outdoor seating. Check out their website here

The Standard Social Market

A popular concept right now is the multi-purpose venue: a space that provides more than one service. The latest multi-purpose venue in downtown Huntsville is The Standard Social Market. Their website describes itself as “A Social Market…A Gathering Place…A Grocer…Grab a Bite.” The Standard will be a social market and eatery with fresh foods and a large kitchen with a chef preparing to-go meals for dine-in or take-out. Nestled between Moe’s BBQ & Stella’s at 127 Holmes Ave NW Huntsville, AL 35801, it’s set to open late summer 2021.

106 Jefferson Hotel

Staying in downtown Huntsville gets even classier with the new hotel 106 Jefferson. A “Lifestyle Boutique Hotel” 106 Jefferson will include 115 rooms, 12 suites, a full-service restaurant, meeting rooms and a rooftop bar on the 7th floor. The hotel’s restaurant is called Revivalist. Their website says the theme is “built on revival… [with] décor reminiscent of an old time parlor.” The menu is influenced by European classics serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The rooftop bar, on the other hand, pays homage in their name to the first primates to survive spaceflight, Baker & Able. Indoor and outdoor seating will be available. 106 Jefferson Huntsville, Curio Collection by Hilton officially opened in early August and the restaurant and rooftop bar are coming soon.

J. Alexander’s

Construction underway in Town Madison is an understatement. One of the many things going into this vibrant space is the upscale, Nashville-based restaurant J. Alexander’s. Right next to the Toyota Field, the eatery will be at Town Madison Boulevard and Stadium Way. About 200 guests can be accommodated and served in a contemporary American restaurant. They serve wood-fired cuisine, specifically, “prime rib of beef, steaks, fresh seafood, sandwiches and entrée salads.” At their full-service bar, they also offer a variety of wines by the glass and bottle. Originally, J. Alexander’s was set to open in the fourth quarter of 2020, but plans were halted by the pandemic. They will now open their doors (*fingers crossed*) fourth quarter of 2021.

Wood & Cloth Interiors

A new storefront will be opening their doors in Madison early this Fall. Wood & Cloth Interiors is a furniture and home decor store. It’s been a booth inside Vintage 72 but will expand to its own brick and mortar location atf 107 Brookridge Dr. Madison, AL 35758, replacing the former Hollywood Feed. Owners Mary Kate and Cody Nave say the store is meant to be a one-stop shop for homeowners to find all their house needs. They’ll have pretty much something for everyone. The owners say they plan to keep their original booth in Vintage 72 but the expansion to the storefront will help them bring bigger items they weren’t able to offer before.
