Veterans Day is just around the corner, and North Alabama hosts several attractions and celebrations! Home to the U.S. Army’s Redstone Arsenal, the Huntsville area loves celebrating our military community and solid military heritage. Our community has many Veterans Day activities celebrating those who have served in the U.S. military.

Discounts

Veterans and their families get free or discounted admission this Veterans Day to several Huntsville attractions, including the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Burritt on the Mountain, and the Huntsville Botanical Garden (daytime admission only). Just come prepared to show your military identification.

Furthermore, the Parks for Patriots statewide program grants free admission for veterans to Alabama State Parks. This means a visit to Monte Sano State Park is now free for veterans on Veterans Day and every day!

Huntsville Madison County Veterans Memorial

The Huntsville Veterans Memorial was dedicated on Veterans Day, 11.11.11. Its purpose is to honor and pay tribute to all veterans for their Courage, Sacrifice, and Duty. The Memorial has become a special place that inspires visitors to honor and remember veterans. It provides an educational venue to teach visitors about our military past, the cost of war, and sacrifices to ensure our freedom.

U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum

Located in Huntsville, Alabama, this is one of the premier military museums in the country. The exhibits of memorabilia, artifacts, and military equipment range from the American Revolutionary War to the present day. The collection includes many rare and essential relics, including the oldest surviving jeep: the Ford Pygmy!

Veterans Day Parade

Huntsville will honor our country’s veterans with a grand Veterans Day Parade on November 11 in downtown Huntsville. Participants will include marching bands, ROTC groups, veterans groups, and more. Pre-parade events start at 10 a.m. at the Huntsville-Madison County Veterans Memorial Park. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m.!
