1. Aldridge Creek Greenway
At 5.4 miles long, the Aldridge Creek Greenway is one of Huntsville’s longest greenways. This greenway has two primary entrances – one at Ken Johnston Park and the other at Ditto Landing. Despite its length, it is incredibly family-friendly as the trail provides safe crossings by passing under all main roads.

2. Indian Creek Greenway
The Indian Creek Greenway is 2.9 miles long and is considered one of the most popular greenways in Huntsville. Although this greenway is accessible through several surrounding neighborhoods, it features a beautiful landscape complete with wooded areas and a creek.

3. Mill Creek Greenway
One of the most kid-friendly greenways in Huntsville is the Mill Creek Greenway. At only one mile long, this greenway caters to children with activities and prompts lining the trail to add to the excitement!

4. Madison County Nature Trail
Madison County Nature Trail, also known as Green Mountain Nature Trail, is a county park that covers 72 acres and includes a 16-acre lake among other attractions! The main hiking trail is 1.5 miles with additional trails surrounding the lake. After your hike, enjoy the covered bridge, old schoolhouse, chapel, or picnic pavilion before you head home.

5. Monte Sano Nature Preserve
Part of Monte Sano State Park, the Monte Sano Nature Preserve offers 23 miles of hiking trails ranging in difficulty. Along the trails, hikers will experience a variety of wildflowers, historic landmarks, and even waterfalls!

6. Alum Hollow Trail
If you’re interested in chasing waterfalls, head to Alum Hollow Trail! This popular trail provides 2.2 miles of hiking that is good for hikers of all ages. Many hikers pack a lunch to enjoy at the base of the waterfall before heading back.

7. Big Spring International Park
An iconic landmark in Huntsville, Big Spring International Park is a favorite of both locals and tourists alike! With festivals, concerts, and other events, this park provides fun for the whole family. Two of the most famous features of this great park are the red bridge and beautiful cherry trees, both gifts from Japan!

8. Dublin Park
One of the most exciting parks in Huntsville, Dublin Park is a 60-acre park that offers endless opportunities for fun! Some of the attractions include paved walking trails, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a disc golf course, playground, and sports facilities.

9. Jones Farm Park
Located off 4 Mile Post Road, Jones Farm Park is a 33-acre park featuring a pavilion, paved walking trails, and plenty of space for outdoor fun!

10. Brahan Spring Park
Last but certainly not least, Brahan Spring Park is a family favorite with an exciting playground, children’s splash pad, disc golf, horseshoes, and more!
