Tinsel Trail
How does strolling through the park to view beautifully decorated Christmas trees sound? If that seems like a jolly time, visit Huntsville’s Tinsel Trail! The Tinsel Trail is a dazzling display of real Christmas trees in Downtown Huntsville’s Big Spring Park. Take a walk through the 350 trees that adorn the park for the holiday season. The intent behind the installation is to promote community; therefore, each tree is decorated by a local business or family. The Tinsel Trail is entirely free and will be open until January 2, 2023.

Shell’s Christmas Tree Farm
Speaking of Christmas trees, do you have yours yet? If not, you’ll want to check out Shell’s Christmas Tree Farm in Tuscumbia, AL. Open since 1983, Shell’s Christmas Tree Farm is more than just a place to get a fresh tree. It’s an experience for the whole family, complete with hot apple cider, Santa, wagon rides, wreath making, and bonfires! This family-owned tree farm is open until December 19.

Skating in the Park
What’s more magical than a wintery outdoor skating rink? We can’t think of anything! The Huntsville Museum of Art hosts an annual outdoor skating rink in downtown Huntsville’s Big Spring Park. There you’ll find food trucks with treats and hot cocoa, skate rentals, holiday music playing overhead, and several events! You’re sure to feel like you’re in a hallmark movie at the skating rink, and you’ll have lasting memories with the whole family!

Galaxy of Lights
Galaxy of Lights is one of Huntsville’s favorite holiday traditions! For over 25 years, Huntsville Botanical Garden has welcomed guests to meander through the beautiful light display and enjoy the Garden when it’s decked out for the holiday season. With both driving and walking nights, Galaxy of Lights offers guests of all ages the chance to make memories together while they experience the magic of the lights. This year includes new immersive displays and more walking nights!

New for 2022: Winter Park at Orion Amphitheater
New attraction alert! The Huntsville area’s holiday season will be more festive than ever before with the addition of Winter Park at The Orion Amphitheater. Winter Park is an immersive winter-themed experience that is sure to bring the magic of the season to life where visitors can ice skate, see Santa’s workshop, rent private igloos, relax around the firepit with smores, and shop holiday markets. Winter park is free to enter and will be open until January 29, 2023!
